Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE

You know how it works. I know how it works. You have a fully virtual environment...except for that one or two servers server sitting in the rack. The server can't be virtualized for one reason or another. You've already dumped Symantec Backup Exec and had a huge uninstall party.

However, you realize that Veeam does not have the ability to backup physical servers, until now. Veeam has brought a new product online called Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE.  The system requirements show that Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE supports desktops and laptops running 32- and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows, including Windows 7 SP1 – 8.x and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 – 2012 R2.

Everyone loves marketing videos, click play.

It seems like this product will definitely help bridge the gap for those virtualization projects that are looking to utilize Veeam for their entire environment.  The new product actually integrates with their Veeam Backup & Replication product.

So, give it a whirl. Play with it on your workstation or a test machine. It's FREE.

How to show SKU on Magento Product Page

If you're looking to display SKU on the product page, it's easier than you think. Just follow the directions I found online.
Catalog > Attributes > Manage Attributes > [...search for sku...]
Scroll down to Frontend Properties > Visible on Product View Page on Front-end > Yes > Save

After that, you will want to refresh your cache to make sure things register properly on the frontend.
This worked in Magento Community version 1.9.0.1

VMware Certification on a Shoestring Budget

So I decided to make a move towards my first certification. I chose VMware VCP5-DCV.
I was given the opportunity last year, before our big push to the virtualized world, to attend a non-certified VMware class. The class my up my brain and I fell in love with VMware right away.
Soon after the class, I frequented the Reddit VMware sub. I soon found an online VMware certified class that others were taking to allow them access to the VCP5-DCV test. The class was offered by Stanly community college.
The cost of this online class was dirt cheap compared to all other certified classes, just around $250 with books.  After completing the course, you are then able to sit the test and also receive a 70% discount voucher.  How can you go wrong?
I'll make a follow-up post about the class soon.

Google Maps now warns you if place is closed.

Google Maps added a nice feature that notifies you if your destination will be closed when you arrive. Pretty nice feature. This means I just need to map my destination to check hours. Thank you Google, thank you.
