Website Ventures Could Pay For LunchSubmitted by Jerry on Thu, 2007-02-01 23:58 |
I have spent most of the past 4 years just channel surfing the internet, why... well previously I wasn't quite sure. Maybe there are a few classes I should take to overcome my internet addictions. But overall I feel that I have gained so much knowledge, some random, and have often attempted to become a quick online millionaire myself. However, I spend much of my time like a fat kid with ADD and feel like I want to follow all my bright ideas but have yet to honestly finish a project as I intend. Is it because I am bored? Am I lazy? I would probably say neither. Between myself, Brendon and my other friends, I think we all have a drive to create and creatively think about products on a constant basis. I suppose if I were filthy rich, I could afford to draw out my plans and hire others to complete them. Until then, I will keep many irons in the fire.
You see, I have found many communities, books and articles which guide others to creating successful web projects and I take many great stabs at my own. Making money on the internet can happen for anyone, you will need to just find your niche.
I have managed to dabble a bit in affiliate marketing (which has its hot and cold spells) and have made a respectable amount of spending cash. I have also attempted to produce some profits from PPC programs such as Google Adsense. I have started my own website development and hosting company also.
I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and I do believe that all the endless hours I have invested in channel surfing the web will pay off. Well, I can't lie, I feel it has paid off already. I have been recently hired on as the CIO for a local corporation (remaining unnamed at this point), and it didn't happen with magic (I hope).
Yes, my Bachelors Degree in Computer Science does help, but the degree only gets you so far in life. The effort that I have put forward towards my own endeavors and projects is finally paying off. So for all of you aspiring web developers, future CIO's or graphic artists... keep working your tail off and keep many irons in the fire. The more poles you put in the water, the more of a chance you will catch a fish.
