Post Y2K7

Well the world after Y2K7 seems to be just fine. Planes didn't fall from the sky and the world did not stop ticking. Now it is onto the daily lives of IT to manage, develop and maintain the industry of tomorrow.

For everyone who was late in preparation for the DST2007, that may have been a good wake up call to the type of political changes that can have an effect on the IT industry. Just as I had figured, many (may I stress MANY) resources could be found around the internet to alleviate any issues that may come about.

Also, for many it was a wake up call and a harsh reality that some software developers will not support or give patches for their products.... well unless you have $4k to spend. Now would be a great time, if any, to upgrade and update operating system and software packages that act as the backbone for your business infrastructure.

Windows Server 2000 - (DST) Daylight Savings Time 2007 Update

Being that the great Y2K7 is just 6 days away, I feel this post can prove to be helpful to others looking to update Windows Server 2000. Unfortunately, Microsoft has decided to provide only a KB for updating Windows Server 2000 and having an option to download a Patch for $4,000. Honestly, after reading how simple the change should be, I don't see where the $4,000 price came from.

Having a few servers running windows 2000, I have been researching the best methods to perform the Daylight Savings Time 2007 update. There are many different posts around the internet talking about the best way to apply the update, and I'd like to update my findings for anyone who may need the assistance.
